The legendary moviedom, Chief Lere Paimo is otherwise known as Eda Onile Ola (born November 19, 1939) in Ogbomosho, Ogun State, Nigeria is a Yoruba actor and a filmmaker, singer, dancer, producer and director from 1960 until today.
Chief Lere Paimo (MFR) a veteran Nollywood movie icon, Aare Arobajo of Ogbomosho was a trained educator. He received his teaching training career in Ghana after his primary education in Ogbomosho and he has been awarded various certificates of participation in theatre workshops at the University of lbadan in 1976.
He began his acting career in 1960 with Papa Oyinade Adejobi before he joined Duro Ladipo’s Theatre Group where he featured in a stage play titled Obamoro with the role of “Chief Basa”. He became popular following a lead role as Soun Ogunmola epic Yoruba movie titled Ogbori Elemosho. Chief Lere Paimo has contributed immensely to the Nigerian film industry and was bestowed with a National award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo. On April 2014, he won N1 million cash prize in a Nigeria game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Papa’s famous sayings are: “People call me from anywhere to consult the oracle for them.” “I am back on my feet.” Just to mention a couple.
Over 400 films and video have been credited to his pouch. This dynamic and outstanding actor’s other movie credits include; Aiye, Jaiyesimi, Ipade Ayo, Omo Orukan, and Saworo ide, just to mention a few.
